We have added to our stables our weekly/monthly Equestrian Riding Program for children from K-!2 grade. The after school program works as a part of an equestrian club for children between K-12 Grade. It begins in August and continues until the end of May.
The After School Riding Program focus is an introduction to horseback riding as an equestrian sport.
We ensure that our students develop strong equestrian foundations through the use of safe and sound training techniques in all of our horse riding lessons.
This year, Moccasin Stables is proud to announce that our after school program has been approved as a 2019 Time To Ride Program Facility.
Time to Ride is a program of American Horse Council (AHC), a Washington, DC-based nonprofit asociation representing all segments of the horse industry. Time to Ride's purpose is to foster the next generation of knowledgeable riding, dedicated horse owners and introducing school-age children to horse care and horseback riding in a safe, welcoming environment.
To achieve the Time To ride Program Facility designation, our riding instructors had to pass a criminal background check and complete SafeSport training through the U.S.Center for SafeSport. In addition, our farm and instructors had to meet a stringent set of standarts for safety, physical facility requirements and professional eperience.
In addition to providing excercise, learning to ride and care for the horses teaches many life skills, including responsabilities, patience, perseverance and how to set and achieve goals.
Unlike other forms of excersice, children experience the emotional bond that comes from caring for and riding a horse-partnership with another living being like no other.
As a Time To Ride Program Facility, Moccasin Stables utilizes a prescribed curriculum based on United State Pony Club (USPC), to teach children about horse care and handling in addition to horseback riding. Through an introductory of series of weekly lessons, kids learn how to properly groom a horse, parts of a saddle, as well as basic riding skills to achieve the more upper level disciplines like jumping and dressage.
Children during the year will have the opportunity to pass Level of riding, horsemanship and stable manager according to USPC (United State Pony Club) and USEF (United State Equestrian Federation). We offer testing to pass Pony Club levels D-1, D-2, D-3. Once each level is achieved the children will recieve a badge from Pony Club.
Horses are big soul healers and teach to our young people how gain more confidence, be a better leader, be more responsible for their actions and provide peace and tranquility to troubled souls. For that and many other reasons, we'd like to show to the children this entire fascinating world of the horses.
We will be working with local schools and youth group in the coming months to offer the Time To Ride lesson program to youngsters in our area.
